The Environmental Stress Cracking Test Apparatus (ESCR-93) is designed to assess the resistance of plastic materials—especially polyethylene—to environmental stress cracking (ESC), a major cause of polymer failure under combined mechanical stress and chemical exposure.
Manufactured in accordance with ASTM D1693, this system delivers precise and repeatable testing conditions. The apparatus features a durable stainless steel water bath, uniformly heated to the specified testing temperature and regulated by a digital temperature controller cum indicator for accurate thermal stability throughout the test duration.
A stainless steel tray securely holds Mega test tubes containing the detergent (Epagoge solution) and test specimens. Prior to immersion, specimens are accurately nicked and stressed using the supplied jig. The stressed samples are then placed into the detergent-filled test tubes and positioned within the heated water bath to evaluate cracking behavior under controlled environmental exposure.
The apparatus comes fully equipped with all required accessories including a specimen nicking device, U-channel specimen holder, cutting die, and test tube holder, enabling reliable specimen preparation and consistent test execution.
