The 5 Channel Inclined Plane Tracking & Erosion Test (IPT) system is a high-precision laboratory instrument designed to evaluate the resistance of insulating materials against surface tracking and erosion under electrical stress. Built in accordance with international testing standards as per BS EN 50397‐1:2020, this system ensures accurate, repeatable, and reliable results for research, quality control, and product development applications. It is used for Covered conductor manufacturing → EN 50397 which is mandatory in EU.
This advanced setup allows simultaneous testing of up to five samples, significantly improving productivity and reducing testing time. Each channel is independently monitored and controlled, enabling precise comparison and analysis of multiple materials under identical conditions. It is made in accordance with British Standard EN 50397‐1:2020. It supersedes BS EN 50397‐1:2006, which is withdrawn.
The instrument simulates real-world environmental and electrical stresses by applying high voltage across inclined test specimens while a controlled contaminant solution flows over the surface. This helps determine the material’s performance under severe service conditions, making it ideal for industries dealing with high-voltage insulation.
