Product Description

The Halogen Acid Gas Test Apparatus (HAG-754) is an essential laboratory instrument designed to evaluate the amount of halogen acid gas released when cable insulation materials and PVC compounds are exposed to high temperatures. Manufactured fully in compliance with IEC 60754 Part II, this apparatus helps determine the corrosive effects of halogen-containing gases—especially Hydrochloric Acid (HCl)—that may be emitted during fire conditions.

When PVC or cable compounds decompose under heat, they generate acidic fumes that can severely damage nearby electronic equipment, infrastructure and sensitive instruments. With industries increasingly shifting toward FRLS, FRHF, LSHF, and LHZS materials, accurate quantification of halogen emissions has become critical for meeting safety and environmental standards.

In this test, a precisely weighed sample is subjected to a controlled heating rate inside a high-temperature furnace. The gases released during decomposition pass through an alkaline absorption solution, where the resulting acidity is analyzed to determine the percentage of chlorine by weight and the total HCl evolved.

The system includes a digital temperature controller (up to 800°C), complete high-quality glassware assembly and a sturdy furnace for reliable and consistent test results. Consumables such as chemicals and reagents are not included, allowing users to choose materials based on their preferred testing protocols.

The apparatus is widely used by cable manufacturers, polymer testing labs, quality assurance departments, and R&D facilities to ensure compliance with global fire safety standards. One-day hands-on training is also provided during the system demonstration.
